Whoever has recognised the form of the principle of sufficient reason, which appears in pure time as such, and on which all counting and arithmetical calculations rests, has completely mastered the nature of time. Time is nothing more than that form of the principle of sufficient reason, and has no further significance. Succession is the form of the principle of sufficient reason in time, and succession is the whole nature of time. Arthur Schopenhauer {1788-1860}
Effective leaders seek to align the interests of individual decision-makers with the interests of the group as a whOle.
Core Process Alignment
- The extent and type of processes depend on the trade-offs you need to make
- Systems that enable the group to transform information, material and knowledge into value
- In the form of commercially viable products or services, new knowledge or ideas, productive relationships or anything essential
- The way people work and organize
- Same as the human body – processes are physiology
- Structure – anatomy (Skeltons,bons,..)
- Process evaluation – efficiency and effective
- Process analysis stimulates collective learning
- Productivity – does the process transform knowledge, material and labour into value?
- Timelines – Delivery of value in a timely manner?
- Reliability – reliable or break down quickly?
- Quality – Delivery of value in consistent required value standard
After recasting biblical stories using game theory, Steven Brams concluded that God was a “Superlative strategist”. Given his starting advantages, anything less than superlative would appear something of a disappointment. But Brams noted that God enjoyed omniscience but not omnipotence. He was not a mere puppetmaster but rather was affected by the choices of the other players. To help explain God’s purpose and his later strategy, Brams drew on the Philosopher Lesezek Kolakowski. God created the world for “His own Glory” but it would be pointless unless it could be appreciated. ” He needed a setting in which to be great.” This was only possible after the creation of the world. ” For now he had someone who could admire him and to whom to compare himself and how favorably” STRATEGY, A HISTORY
On this reading, God created strategy by allowing choice, because he wanted people to choose obedience through an act of will rather than because they were programmed to do so. Even if individuals were part of a divine plan that had been set out at the moment of creation, they were allowed the sensation of choice and the ability to calculate and plan. The bible tells of human choices regulary being manipulated by God to create the situations in which his greatness would become appearent. The issue came up as soon as man and woman were formed to take control of the new world that God had created. After placing Adam and Eve in Eden, God immediately set a test. STRATEGY, A HISTORY

The Lobster. The creature seems intimidating and impenetrable, with its sharp claws quick to grab, its hard protective shell, and its powerful tail propelling it out of danger. Handle it directly and you will pay the price. But turn it over with a stick to reveal its tender underside and the creature is rendered helpless…….. It is by turning the enemy, but attacking his flank, that battles are won – NAPOLEON BONAPARTE (1769 – 1821)
