Aware of this, the Gibeonites pretended to Joshua that they were not from the next city but rather a distant people. They engaged in a careful deception, appearing dishevelled and claiming to have travelled from a faraway place, drawn by the fame of God. When Joshua doubted this claim, they drew attention to their “dry and crumbly” bread, their cracked wineskins, and their worn-out clothes and sandals. Stress is a biological state to helps you learn from experience. Your stress response is extremely receptive to the effects of deliberate practice. There is no better way to change your habits, other than during stress.
